Three Michelin stars for eight restaurants in Spain.

Michelin announced last evening in Bilbao (Spain) the Michelin stars 2014 in Spain and Portugal.

Spain has gained one three Michelin star restaurant, DiverXo, in Madrid, with the chef David Muñoz. Therefore, Spain has 8 three Michelin star restaurants and takes third place in Europe, after France and Germany:

in Alicante: Quique Dacosta Restaurant

in Basque Country: Akelarre (chef Pedro Subijana), Arzak (chef Juan Mari Arzak), Martin Berasategui (chef Martin Berasategui) and Azurmendi (chef Eneko Atxa)

in Catalonia: El Celler de Can Roca (chefs Roca brothers) and Sant Pau (chef Carme Ruscalleda)

With two-stars, there are two new restaurants: El Portal in Ezcaray (La Rioja) and M.B. Martín Berasategui’s restaurant in Tenerife. In total, Spain has 17 two-star restaurants.

20 restaurants have been awarded their first star.
